Catherine Counts was created to offer something simple but often hard to find: bookkeeping that is reliable, thoughtful, and grounded in real life.

I bring over 20 years of experience working in the nonprofit sector, where integrity is essential. Over time, I became someone others relied on for details to be handled, to bring structure to complex work, and problems to be solved, often behind the scenes.

Alongside that, I’ve spent several years providing bookkeeping support for a small business client, helping maintain clean, consistent financial records and taking on additional operational responsibilities as trust grew. That experience confirmed what I value most: doing steady, careful work that makes life easier.

My approach is rooted in the understanding that no one’s systems—or attention—are perfect all the time. I build practical, sustainable processes that support accuracy without relying on constant urgency or pressure.

A little more about me

I’m married, share my home with one very goofy dog and one very dignified cat, and enjoy a quieter pace of life. Outside of work, you’ll usually find me knitting, working on a Sudoku or crossword puzzle, enjoying a cocktail, playing trivia, or all of these at once.

I currently work remotely and am in the process of relocating to a more rural setting, while continuing to support clients wherever they are.

Why this work matters to me

I know that for many people, bookkeeping is something that gets pushed aside—not because it isn’t important, but because it can feel confusing, overwhelming, or inaccessible.

I believe financial systems should work for people, not the other way around. My goal is to meet clients where they are, create clarity without judgment, and support a way of working that is both accurate and sustainable over time.

You don’t need to have everything perfectly organized. You don’t need to have all the answers. You just need someone who will approach your work with care and consistency.
